Lap swim

Enjoy structured lap swimming with dedicated lanes for all ability levels.

Lap Swim at B-Town Brazadas

Our lap swim program is designed for swimmers of all levels who want a consistent place to train, stay active, and enjoy the water. Whether you're building endurance, working on technique, or just looking for a great workout, our lap swim sessions provide dedicated lanes and a supportive community environment.

Lap swim is available exclusively to Brazadas Swim Club members; drop-in swimming is not permitted.

Lap swim lanes are intended for continuous lap swimming. Water walking, water jogging, or other stationary activities are not permitted in lap lanes so that lanes remain available for swimmers completing laps.

We offer scheduled lap swim times throughout the week so members can easily fit swimming into their routine. Swimmers are encouraged to select a lane that matches their pace and be mindful of others by following standard lap swim etiquette, such as circle swimming when lanes are shared.

Pool Guidelines and Rules

To keep East Side Aquatic Center safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone, all swimmers and guests are expected to follow these basic pool guidelines.

  • Respect the Space: Please treat fellow swimmers, staff, and guests with courtesy. Running, rough play, pushing, or inappropriate language is not permitted on the pool deck.
  • Lifeguard Supervision: Swimming is only allowed when a lifeguard is present and on duty.
  • Shower Before Entering: All swimmers must rinse off with soap before entering the pool. Please remove makeup, lotions, and bandages before swimming to help maintain water quality.
  • Proper Swim Attire: Swimsuits are required in the pool. Swimmers with hair past their shoulders must wear a swim cap to keep the pool clean and reduce clogged filters.
  • Health and Hygiene: For the safety of everyone, individuals with open wounds, skin infections, eye infections, or other contagious conditions should not enter the pool. Spitting, blowing your nose, or any bodily discharge in the pool is strictly prohibited.
  • Diapers for Young Swimmers: Children who are not toilet-trained must wear a snug-fitting, reusable swim diaper along with a disposable swim diaper while in the pool.
  • Food and Drink: Food, gum, glass containers, and beverages other than water are not allowed on the pool deck.
  • Safe Entry Only: Diving is only permitted in designated areas of the pool. Please follow deck markings and signage. In all other areas, swimmers must enter the water feet-first.
  • Breath-Holding: Extended breath holding, hyperventilation, and underwater breath-holding challenges can be dangerous and are not allowed.
  • Age Requirements: Lap swim is open to swimmers ages 13 and older. Swimmers ages 13–17 may be required to complete a swim competency check before participating.

Lap Swim Etiquette

Lap swimming works best when everyone cooperates and communicates. Please follow these lane guidelines so all swimmers can enjoy their workout.

  • Lane Sharing: When three or more swimmers are in a lane, circle swimming is required (always staying to the right). With two swimmers, lanes may be split, allowing each swimmer to stay on one side.
  • Choose the Right Lane: Pay attention to lane speed and select the lane that most closely matches your pace (fast, medium, or slow).
  • Entering a Lane: Before getting in, make eye contact or communicate with swimmers already in the lane. Always check both directions before pushing off the wall.
  • Passing Another Swimmer: If you need to pass:
  • Gently tap the swimmer’s foot ahead of you to signal you would like to pass.
  • Pass only at the wall.
  • Do not attempt to swim around another swimmer mid-lane.
  • If You Are Being Passed: If you feel a tap on your feet:
  • Continue swimming to the wall.
  • Pause in the corner of the lane to allow the faster swimmer to pass.
  • Avoid stopping in the middle of the pool.

By following these simple guidelines, we can ensure a smooth, safe, and enjoyable lap swim experience for everyone.
